Ruby-Throated Hummingbird II
2019
9x12" acrylic on canvas
This little female hummingbird visits my feeder several times a day, and has no issues scolding me when I take the feeder down to clean it! The reference photo for this one was taken as she was puffing herself up in my tree on a Sunday morning.
The flower is the blossom of a red horse chestnut tree that grows in a park near my place. A male hummingbird often visits the flowers but unfortunately I haven't been able to snag a phot of him feeding there yet. I meant this piece to be fun and whimsical, and I'm pretty happy with how fluffy the white feathers on the hummingbird appear. SOLD. |
